Members Present: Chairperson David Bawden Commissioner Benjamin Deemer Corrrmlssioner Paul Holland Commissioner Sharon Jensen Commissioner Charles LaDue Commissioner Bradley Thorud Members Absent: Commissioner Michael Terry Also Present: City Engineer Steve Jankowski CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Bawden called the public hearing to order at 7:56 p.m. REQUEST TO RENEW A CONDITIONAL USE PER_MIT TO MINE AND EXPORT SOILS; CASE OF SID~ NYHUSMOEN City Engineer .lankowski stated that Mr. Nyhusmcen's property is located north of Highway I0 and west of Axm~ong Boulevard in ~ Industrial Park. The property owner was granted a mining and grafting pemfit in 1994, when he proposed to remove 14,000 yards of material. The site slopes gently fi-om the northwest to the southeast. The applicant proposed to carve out a fiat area in the southern portion afthe property for a building site. However, no mining or grading has occurred in the last three years and the permit is about Co expire. The applicant has requested an extension of the permit for another three-hear period.
