I
I
I

CASE

AWARD CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #96-23
McKINLEY STREET TO COMMERCIAL ASPHALT PROPERTY
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

Improvement Project #96-23 involves the construction of approximately 1,400 feet of roadway
which will extend McKinley Street to the eastern property line of commercial asphalt, and also
include the construction of approximately 200 feet of Azurite Street north of McKinley. The
work will also involve minor amounts of sewer and water to provide service to the properties the
roadway will service.

The City Council ordered bids on August I3, 1996. Bids were opened on Friday, September 6,
1996. You may recall that award of this project was withheld last fall because of property
ownership issues relating to the adjacent land. These issues have now been resolved. Nine
contractors submitted bids with the lowest three proposers within four percent of one another. A
copy of the bids are attached.

Recommendation:

Attached is a letter from project engineer John Bertelsen recommending award to low bidder
W.B. Miller in the amount of $188,297.85.

Council Action:

Motion to adopt Resolution #97-04-XXX awarding contract Improvement Project #96-23
McKinley Street to Commercial Asphalt property.

Reviewed by:

City Engineer
City Administrator
City Attorney

CC: 4/8/97

/kas
