I Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #97-04- RESOLUTION IMPROVEMENT ASPHALT) RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR PROJECT #96-23 (MCKINLEY STREET TO COMMERCIAL WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council passed a motion on July 23, 1996, authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications for the above referenced work; and Street to law WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of McKinley to the Commercial Asphalt property, bids were received, opened and tabulated according on September 6, 1996; and WHEREAS, the following quotes were received: Bidder Amount of Bid W. B. Miller, Inc. Bonine Excavating Kober Excavating, Inc. Forest Lake Contracting Lan Dar, Inc. Northdale Construction Volk Sewer & Water Ryan Contracting, Inc. Old is Gold Construction $188,297.85 $191,080.86 $195,520.28 $203,690.80 $209,304.30 $214,303.35 $215,450.00 $225,782.00 $226,574.20 Engineer's Estimate $185,500.00 AND WHEREAS, it appears that W. B. Miller, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1) That the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby aUthorized and directed to enter into a contract with W. B. Miller, Inc. in the name of the City of Ramsey for the construction of McKinley Street to the Commercial Asphalt property in the amount of $188,297.85. 2) That the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next to lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
