I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I CASE # 7 ADOPT A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A MISSISSIPPI NATIONAL RIVER AND RECREATION AREA (MNRRA) GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE By: Planning Intern Kirk Skoog Background: On December 10, 1996, the City Council directed Staff to apply for funding assistance in the amount of $25,000 from the National Park Service (NPS). This application was submitted in January to the Metropolitan Council, which is administering the program for the NPS. Observations: A grant was approved in Mamh for $20,000 by the NPS. Acceptance of this grant will require the City to provide a match of $20,000 consisting of in-kind services and/or cash. A copy of the application for assistance is enclosed with an amended budget to reflect the difference between the amount requested and the amount approved. The work plan in this application has been approved by the NPS. At its meeting of March 25, 1997, Council allocated $20,000 in CDBG funds toward planning purposes. It is intended that this funding be used toward the matching requirement. Recommendation: City Staff recommends that Council adopt a resolution to accept the MNRRA grant in the amount of $20,000 from the NPS and agree to match this grant with $20,000 of in-kind services and/or cash. A proposed resolution is enclosed. Council Action: Motion to adopt Resolution#97-04-_ accepting the MNRRA grant and to work with the Metropolitan Council to draft a funding agreement.
