This is a concern
throughout the City to prevent wildlife from being poisoned. There are also many wetlands with the
problem of algae, oil and garbage. He requested the Planning Commission to consider these issues
and what can be done to keep these wetlands preserved.

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the purpose of the storm water treatment pond is primarily to
remove phosphorous that causes algae blooms in water. He agreed that in the normal amounts of oils
or possibly fertilizers there is the potential for a problem, but this development is in compliance with
Best Practices Management that is the currently acknowledged standard. Part of what needs to be
done is to educate people on the judicious use of lawn fertilizers.

Mr. Voss stated that the northern tier of lots appears to be less deep than the southern tier. He asked
if the plan could be reversed to put more distance between this development and the residents to the
north.

City Engineer J'ankowski stated that ali of the lots are exactly 135 feet deep.

One resident asked when the park would be completed.

Commissioner Deemer responded that the Planning Commission does not have the authority to
address park issues. Park questions should be addressed to the Park Commission.

City Engineer Jankowski noted that the City Council has earmarked revenue from this development
specifically for the park on the south side of 153rd.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Jensen, seconded by Commissioner Deemer to close the public hearing.

Motion carried.
