§ 8.80 <br /> <br />Sewage disposal sysWxns <br /> <br />prevent the con.ruination of any existing or future water supply by existing or <br />future sewage disposal system. However, the systems, procedures, and other <br />requirements of this chapter are not to be construed such as to afford direct <br />protection to an individual landowner, but rather the purpose of this chapter is to <br />adopt a genera] public policy relating to sewage disposal and clean water supplies. <br /> <br /> 8.30.02 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, certain terms or words <br /> used herein shall be interpreted as follows: The word "shall" is mandatory; the <br /> words "should" and "may" are permissive. All distances, unless otherwise <br /> specked, shall be measured horizontally. <br /> Administrator is the building official. <br /> <br /> Agency is the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br /> <br /> Agency Approved Disposal Facility is any disposal faci~dty which has a <br />National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit or State <br />Disposal System Pecm/t or letter of approval from the agency,' <br /> <br /> Alternative System is an individual sewage treatment system <br />employ/ng such methods and devices presented in §8.30.04 Subd. 7 (Alternative <br />Systems). <br /> <br /> Baffle is a device installed in a septic tank for proper operation of the <br />tank and to provide maximum retention of solids, and includes vented sanitary tees <br />and submerged pipes in addition to those devices that are normally called baffles. <br /> <br /> Bedroom is any room w/thin a dwelling that, in the judgment of the <br />zoning officer, might reasonably be used as a sleeping room, including but not <br />limited to rooms designated as den, office, or study, and unfinished areas with <br />potential development to s~me. <br /> <br /> Building Drain is that part oft he lowest piping of the drainage system <br />which receives the discharge from soil, waste and other drainage pipes inside the <br />walls of the building and conveys it to the building sewer beKinning at least 1 foot <br />outside the building foofi_ngs. <br /> <br /> Building Official is the pl~:mbing inspector, building inspector or on- <br />site systems inspector. <br /> <br /> Building Sewer is that part of the drainage system which extends from <br />the end of the building drain and conveys its discharge to an individual sewage <br />treatment system or to a public sanitary sewage collec~ion system. <br /> <br /> Capacity is the liquid volume of a sewage tank using inside <br />dimensions below the outlet. <br /> <br /> Cesspool is an underground pit into which raw household sewage or <br />other untreated liquid waste is discharged and from which the liquid seeps into the <br />surrounding soil. <br /> <br />Council is the ttamsey City Council. <br /> <br />Page 236 <br /> <br />Printed 12/28/90 <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />i <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
