Residential housing <br /> <br />8.60,01 pr vi ona <br /> <br />Residential <br />section". <br /> <br />Sub&ivisionl. Title. This section shall be known as the Ramsey <br />Housing Standards Section and will be hereinafter referred to as "this <br /> <br /> Subd. 2 Scope. AH provisions of this section shall apply uniformly to <br />the maintenance, repair, equipment, use, and occupancy of all existing residential <br />properties, including single fam{ly dwellings and/or multiple family dwellings <br />including apartments, and condominium common areas within the City. <br /> <br /> Sub& I~. Purpose. The purpose of this section is to maintain the <br />City's sanitation, public health and attractiveness, protect the safety of the people, <br />and to promote the general welfare by legislation which shall' be systematically <br />enforced upon all residential property and act as a public service to residents who <br />are homeowners. These general objectives include, among others, the following: <br /> <br />To protect the character and stability of residential areas within <br />the City;, <br /> <br />To correct and prevent conditions that adversely affect or are <br />likely to adversely affect the safety, general welfare, and health of <br />persons owning or renting residential facilities within the City; <br /> <br />To provide for sound maintenance of cooking, heating, sanitary, <br />electrical, light, and ventilation systems necessary for health and <br />safety; <br /> <br />To provide basic standards for the maintenance of existing <br />residential structures and to prevent deterioration and blight; <br /> <br />d. To preserve the value of land and structures throughout the City. <br /> <br /> Sub& 4. Definitions. The following terms, wherever they occur in <br />this section, are defined as set forth herein. Vv~henever the words "dwelling", <br />"dwelling unit", "premises", or "structure" are used in this article, they shall be <br />construed as though they were followed by the words "or- any part thereof". <br /> <br /> Approved. Approved as to construction, installation, and <br />maintenance in accordance with applicable statutes of the State and the pro%~isions <br />of the City ordinances. <br /> <br /> Basement. That portion of a building between floor and ceiling, which <br />is partly below grade but so located that the vertical distance from grade to floor <br />below is less than the vertical distance from grade to ceiling. <br /> <br />Bath.
