Case #2: <br /> <br />Receive Recommendation to Authorize Hiring of Public Works Maintenance <br />Worker <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith stated that the Streets Department has an opening <br />for a Public Works Maintenance Worker due to an employee resignation that became official on <br />May 18, 1997. The positions were advertised internally and then externally. Five people were <br />interviewed and the job has been offered, however, staff will not receive an answer back until <br />Friday. Staff is requesting approval to hire this position with a starting salary of $10.60 per hour <br />and a start date of two weeks from acceptance of the position. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to recommend Council <br />authorize hiring of a Public Works Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen and Beyer. Voting <br />No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Receive Report on City's Spring Events <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager briefly summarized the spring events, including the Pet Clinic, <br />Recycling Day, Tree Sale, and Bike Road-eo. This is for informational purposes and no action is <br />required. <br /> <br />Case#4: Introduce Ordinance to Change Terms of Office for City Boards and <br /> Commissions and to Establish Term Limits on Commission Service <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith noted that the Committee has discussed <br />establishing term limits for Commissions and changing the terms from two years to four years. <br />She presented an ordinance for the purpose of implementing this change. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Mayor Garnec to recommend that City <br />Council introduce the ordinance amending Chapter 2.03.02 of the City Code. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Haas Steffen commented on staggering the terms. Ms. <br />Waite Smith stated that staff will be working with the Commissions on this. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen and Beyer.
