I i I I I I I I Background: REQUEST PROPOSAL FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR BUSINESS PARK 95 6TH ADDITION By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer CASE The City of Ramsey desires to provide infi'astructure to service approximately 25 acres located on the easternmost 675 foot segment of Section 35 adjacent to the City ofAnoka. A sketch of the area and a sketch of the proposed land subdivision is attached. The property represents the final parcel in the Business Park 95 land development. A preliminary layout of the streets, lot sizes, sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm sewer have been developed by City Staff. Staff is requesting to solicit proposals from engineering firms to prepare biddable plans and specifications from the staff prepared layout. In the past, we have selected qualified consultants based upon economic consideration. In 1996, and currently in 1997, the following firms have performed or are currently working on the following projects: John Oliver & Associates, Inc. - In 1996, this firm did the design and project inspections for the Fox Knoll 2nd Addition. This year they are is performing the work associated with the extension of McKinley Street to the Commercial Asphalt property and is also doing Improvement Project #97-20 which entails the storm sewer and street improvements in Business Park 95. ! I ! I Hakanson Anderson Associates, Inc. - In 1996, this firm did the sewer and water extensions associated with Sunwood East and Sunwood West projects. This firm also did design and project inspections for Brandseth Addition. This year they are is preparing the sewer and watermain extensions to Alpine Addition. Howard R. Green, Inc., a.k.a. MSA, Inc. - In 1996 this firm performed the work associated with Improvement Project #96-17, the McKinley East water and street extension. This year they are is preparing plans for the development of Alpine Park. Recommendation: I I I I I I I It is Staff's recommendation that a Request for Proposal be sent to three engineering consultants, including (1) John Oliver & Associates, Inc., (2) Hakanson Anderson Associates, Inc., and (3) MSA, Inc. The proposal should request an hourly rate with a not-to-exceed maximum amount of basic engineering services, and selection and award should be based on that.
