,I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I MEMORANDUM DATE: September 4, 1997 TO: Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator FROM: James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator REGARDING: Initiation of Old Town Hall Project At the April 8, 1997 meeting, the City Council directed staffto proceed with phases 1, 2 and 4 of the Old Town Hall restoration project. In addition, Council requested that we receive bids of the various phases of the project. As the attached information indicates, the City has now received the requested bids and should consider beginning the project. The City has also received a request for an update from the Minnesota Historical Society on the grant project. They have been informed that the City is currently acquiring bids for the various phases and should start the actual construction process prior to the end of the summer. Should the City fail to begin the project in a timely manner, the grant funds may have to be forfeited. As you have requested, the project manager for the Old Town Hall restoration project has forwarded the bids for the five phases of the project. As these bids indicate, the low bidder is B.C.F. Construction with a bid of $149,537 for the entire project. With the inclusion of overhead costs of $22,000, the total cost for all five phases is $171,537. The contractor will at this time begin phase 1 of the project which has a bid cost of $47,735. Should this portion of the project be completed in a timely manner, the City will then authorize the contractor to complete phases 2 and 4 of the project.
