CITYOF <br />FRID~ <br /> <br />POSITION TITTLE :_ <br /> <br />CRIME PR~.WENTION SPECIALIST II <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: <br /> <br />POLICE <br /> <br />POSITIQN OB~,ECTIVE= To assist in analyzing, developing, <br />implementing' and coordinating crime prevention programs in the <br />local school districts. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL.~B FUNCTIONS: <br /> <br />Develop lesson plans and teach crime prevention o~iented <br />programs in four local elementary schools. Topics include <br />personal safety, traffic safety, conflict resolution, self <br />care, theft and vandalism. <br /> <br />Assist in developing effective mechanisms for improved contact <br />and communication between police department and the staff and <br />students of local schools, e.g., prevention of and early <br />intervention in student problems. <br /> <br />.Assist police in investigation of criminal cases when and <br />where appropriate. <br /> <br />Provide information about police department educational <br />programs at conferences, parent meetings, conventions, etc. <br /> <br />Present the department's crime prevention activities to <br />neighborhood, civic and service organizations upon request. <br />Represent the dep~rtment through appropriate professional <br />organizations. <br /> <br />OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: <br /> <br />1. Write column/feature for City newsletter and for local paper. <br /> <br />Work with other city departments to put on educational <br />programs for children, especially after school and during the <br />summer. <br /> <br />3. other related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL OUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />B.A./B.S. in education, criminal justice, sociology or related <br />field, or demonstrated ability/experience in such.
