Council would need to accept Mr. Schroeder's resignation, decide
whether or not to waive the 60-day notice-of-resignation clause in his employment agreement,
appoint an acting City Administrator until a new City Administrator can be recruited and hired,
and establish the salary for the Acting City Administrator.

Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to recommend that City
Council accept Mr. Schroeder's resignation, effective September 26, 1997, and that the 60-day
notice be waived inasmuch as he has provided as much notice as possible, given the requirements
of his prospective employer.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beahen and Beyer.
Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberHaas Steffen.

Mr. Schroeder noted that Council would also have to appoint an acting City Administrator and
he recommended they appoint Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith and that she
receive an increase in pay of $370 per pay period during the time she serves in that capacity.

Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to recommend
that Council adopt the resolution appointing Linda Waite Smith as Acting City Administrator,
effective September 27, 1997, until a new City Administrator is appointed. Included in that
resolution is approval of increasing Ms. Waite Smith's rate of pay by $370 per pay period during
the time she serves as Acting City Administrator.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beahen, Zimmerman and Beyer.
Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Haas Steffen.

Ms. Waite Smith suggested that the Personnel Committee schedule a special meeting to discuss
the hiring process for the City Administrator.

Personnel Committee/August 26, 1997
