She presented some staffing alternatives to meet the needs identified.

Consensus of the Cormnittee was that there was not enough time this evening to discuss staffing
needs, therefore, a special meeting should be held on Monday, September 15, 1997, at 6:00 p.m.,
for the full Council.

With regard to labor negotiations, Mr. Schroeder reported that, in the last six years, the LELS
contract has been pretty straight forward, however, the AFSCME contact is usually a little more
difficult. He asked if Council wanted to be active in the negotiations or not.

Mayor Gamec stated that staff should just handle the negotiations and bring them back to
Council for ratification.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Mayor Gamec to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried.
