Councilmember adoption: introduced the following resolution and moved for its RESOLUTION #97-10- . RESOLUTION DECLARING .NEED FOR THE ANOKA COUNTY HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO EXERCISE ITS POWERS TO LEVY TAXES IN THE CITY OF RAMSEY WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority to levy taxes in the City of Ramsey only if the City of Ramsey and the Ramsey Economic Development Authority have adopted resolutions declaring that there is a need for the Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority to exercise its powers in the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council has established that there is a potential need for senior housing in the community; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council has allocated 1997 Community Development Block Grant funds for the purpose of retaining a consultant to perform a senior housing needs assessment in the community; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council believes a partnership with the Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority can be beneficial to providing senior housing or other related HRA activities in the City of Ramsey. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 469.005, subd. 1, the City of Ramsey declares that there is a need for the Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority to exercise its powers to levy taxes in the City of Ramsey for such projects as may be approved by the City of Ramsey, with a focus on housing for senior citizens.
