I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #97-10- RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SUPPORT OF DESIGNATION OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AS AN AMERICAN HERITAGE RIVER WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey, with administrative offices located at 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 (Telephone: 612-427-1410), recognizes the Mississippi River as an important asset of the City, Anoka County, the Metropolitan Area, and the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, Mississippi shoreline serves as the southerly border of the City; and WHEREAS, the City supports the projects and activities intended to enhance and improve the Mississippi River as a commercial, recreational, environmental and historic resource; and WHEREAS, the City seeks to strengthen its partnership with the United States Federal Government in implementing local river strategies and in 1997 accepted a matching grant in the amount of $20,000.00 from the National Park Service to update the local critical river corridor regulations and implement the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area Comprehensive Management Plan. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT .RESOLVED that the Ramsey City Council hereby endorses the nomination of the Mississippi River for designation as an American Heritage River. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereofi and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the ~ day of ,1997.
