Page 15 <br /> <br /> Once a hearing is requested, it should be scheduled within a reasonable <br />time period. Notice of the date, time and place of the hearing should be <br />provided to the accused at least ten days prior to the hearing. <br /> <br /> Some local units of governments have elected to set standing hearing <br />dates and times, and if this is the case in your community, you can provide. <br />that information directly in the notice of violation. For example, if the <br />hearings are to be conducted in conjunction with a regularly scheduled <br />meeting, the notice could state that the alleged violator has the right to appear <br />before the hearing body at the meeting of ~ If this is the case and the <br />hearing is' to take place in conjunction with a regularly scheduled meeting, it <br />should be done as a separate process either before or after the regularly <br />scheduled meeting.
