r
stock the entire tobacco products inventory. Also, like most retailers, we have installed
surveillance cameras to prevent theft in our stores. Moreover, the displays of multi -pack
cigarettes in our stores are located right near the cash register where they are watched by
our cashiers. We do not have a problem with theft of tobacco products in our stores,
The state law is sufficient to guard against minors attempting to steal tobacco products.
We want to work with the city council and the local police to make sure that the state law
is administered and enforced. Please allow the state law requirements on displays to
work. The City of Hopkins just adopted an ordinance several weeks ago following the
state law on displays and the Cottage Grove City Council is also supporting a similar
ordinance that allows self-service displays of multi -packs and cartons. Approximately 20
other cities and counties have also adopted ordinances that follow the state law rather
than the League of Minnesota Cities' model ordinance.
Thank you for considering this request.
Sincerely,
Terry Johnson
Merchandise Manager
FOOD-N-FUEL, INC.
Corporate Office
TJ/syr
