Where the elevation differences of the ground
surface does not exceed 28 inches in .ny direction within the
soil treatment area, the sewage tank may be directed to the
soil treatment area through a system of interconnected
distribution pipes or trenched in a continuous system.
2. Slightly Sloping Ground. Where the elevation difference of
the ground surface exceeds 28 inches in any direction within
the soil treatment area, the sewage tank effluent may be
distributed by a distribution box, provided the final ground
surface elevation of the lowest trench is at least I foot higher
than the outlet inverts of the distribution box.
(a) The box shall be watertight with a removable cover and
shall be constructed of durable materials not subject to
excessive corrosion or .decay. Each outlet shall have at
least 6 inches of sidewall space and' the side of any outlet
shall be at least 6 inches from any corner.
(b) The inverts of all outlets shall be at the same elevation.
(c) The inlet inverts shall be at least 1 inch above the outlet
inverts.
(d) The outlet inverts shall be at least 4 inches above the
distribution box floor.
(e) Each drainfield trench line shall be connected
separately to the distribution box and shall not be
subdivided.
(f) When sewage tanii effluent is delivered to the
distribution box by pump, either- a baffle wall shall be
installed in the distribution box or the pump discharge
shall be directed against' a wall "or 'side of the box on
which there is no outlet. The baffle shall be secured to
the box and shall extend at least 1 inch above the crown
of the inlet flow line.
3. Sloping Ground. Where the elevation difference of the
ground surface exceeds 28 inches in any direction within soil
treatment area and a distribution box cannot be used as
speciaed in subdivision 1 above, a drop box shall be installed
at the head end of each lateral line. Connection between drop
boxes shall be by watertight pipes.
(a) The drop box shall be watertight and constructed of
durable materials not subject to excessive corrosion or
decay. Each outlet shall have at least 6 inches of
sidewall space and the side of any outlet shall be at least
4 inches from any corner.
n
a
Page 2,4
Printed 12/28/90
