8.60 Residenaal housing staridards <br />,6.50 Residential housing &tardard& <br />8.60.01 General provisions. , <br />Subdivision 1. Title. This section shall be known as the Ramsey , <br />Residential Housing Standards Section and will be hereinafter referred to as "this <br />section". -, <br />Subd.2 Scope. All provisions of this section shall apply uniformly to <br />the maintenance, repair, equipment, use, and occupancy of all existing residential <br />properties, including single family dwellings and/or multiple family dwellings <br />including apartments, and condominium common areas within the City. <br />SubcL & Purpose. The purpose of this section is to maintain the ' <br />City's sanitation, public health and attractiveness, protect the safety of the people, <br />and to promote the general welfare by legislation which shall be systematically <br />enforced upon all residential property and act as a public service to residents who <br />are homeowners. These general objectives include, among others, the following: <br />a. To protect the character and stability of residential areas within <br />the City, <br />r• <br />b. To correct and prevent conditions that adversely affect or are <br />likely to adversely affect the safety, general welfare, and health of <br />persons owning or renting residential facilities within the City; <br />3. To provide for sound maintenance of cooking, heating, sanitary, <br />electrical, light, and ventilation systems necessary for health and <br />safety; <br />c. To provide basic standards for the maintenance of existing <br />residential structures and to prevent deterioration and blight; <br />d. To preserve the value of land and structures throughout the City. <br />SubcL 4.. Definitions. The following terms, wherever they occur in <br />this section, are defined as set forth herein. Whenever the words "dwelling", <br />"dwelling unit", "premises", or "structure" are used in this article, they shall be <br />construed as though they v. ere followed by the words "or any part thereof'. <br />Approve& Approved as to construction, installation, and <br />maintenance in accordance with applicable statutes of the State and the provisions <br />of the City ordinances. <br />Basement.
