1
I
CIVIL DEFENSE SIREN MAINTENANCE CONTRACT
By: David Gustafson, Police Chief
CONSENT # op
Background:
The City received notification from Embedded Systems, Inc. located in Andover, Minnesota, of
t proposed contract renewal terms. This firm has had a siren maintenance contract with the City of
Ramsey for two years. Their proposal calls for no changes in the contract through the end of
1999.
' Staff received a letter of interest from a vendor located in Ramsey early in October, 1997. In this
letter, the vendor listed the monthly per siren fee that the firm would offer as part of the contract.
' The Police Chief contacted the owner by phone and requested further information about other
provisions within their contract along with names of units of government already under contract
with that firm. This request was made in late October, 1997, and to date, no reply has been
received.
Embedded Systems has performed satisfactorily during its present contract period and staff is
' recommending renewing the present contract.;
Council Action:
Motion to authorize staff to renew the present contract with Embedded Systems, Inc. for the
Civil Defense Siren Maintenance Contract.
11
51
