I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />'1 <br />I <br /> I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br /> <br />RECOMMEND HIRING NICHOLAS STOLP AS PATROL OFFICER <br /> By: Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City has been notified that COPSFAST grants are not subject to the current levy limitations <br />imposed by the State Legislature. As a result, the Police Department has a new patrol officer <br />position open' effective January 1, 1998. <br /> <br />In February of 1997, the City advertised for patrol officers and received 179 applications which <br />were rated and ranked. Twenty applicants were invited to first interviews; six of those went on <br />to second interviews and were put on a list of people eligible to be hired. Two people on the list <br />have been hired, one in May and one in August. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Nicholas Stolp is the next person on the eligible list. We are recommending that he be offered <br />the position of patrol Officer, effective January 3, 1998, contingent on successful completion of <br />background checks, physical examination and psychological examination. Mr. Stolp has worked <br />for the Zumbrota, MN Police Department for almost three years. Before that, he worked for the <br />Rochester, MN Police Department for four and one-half years.
