CASE # 3 <br /> <br />FILLING THE VACANCY ON THE COMMISSION <br /> By: Jo Thieling, Recording Secretary <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As you are aware, a vacancy was created by the. resignation of Judy Roff. Staff <br />advertised the vacancy and interviews have been conducted. Consensus of the interview <br />panel was to recommend Kenneth Peterson to complete Judy Roff's term which expires <br />May 12, 1999. This recommendation was presented to the City Council at their February <br />11 and February 25, 1997 meetings. At the February 25, 1997 meeting, Council <br />recommended appointing Mr. Peterson to the Commission. <br /> <br />Chairperson Steffen and Commissioners Donovan and Netzloff have terms which expire <br />May, 1997. All three have completed two consecutive four-year terms and are not <br />eligible for re-appointment. Commissioners Kiefer and Spain Brist have completed one, <br />four-year term and are eligible for re-appointment to the Commission if they desire. <br /> <br />Attached to this case are letters from four people who were interested in being appointed <br />to the Commission at the time the vacancy was created by Judy Roff. All four of these <br />individuals have gone through the interviewing process. The Commission had directed <br />that an ad relating to Charter vacancies be placed in the Ramsey Resident, however, the <br />deadline had passed for the February/March issue at the time of that direction. Therefore, <br />the next issue is sent out the end of April.
