Ms. Frolik suggested these signs are quite popular in a big office structure with several businesses
in that structure but those are owned by the property it's on. We are talking about something in an
induslrial district.

Consensus of Council was to table this issue and set up a meeting with all the parties involved and
come back with a recommendation for Council.

Councilrnember Peterson asked if all present are in favor of allowing Holm's SuperBowl a
temporary sign.

Mayor Hardin suggested holding off on this. He felt they would not be too excited to spend a lot
of money to put up a temporary sign.

Case #2:

Award Contract for Improvement Project #96.23 McKinley Street to
Commercial Asphalt Property

City Administrator Schroeder stated that the City still does not have enough assurances to award
the contract for McKinley Street to Commercial Asphalt property. We advertised locally and received 93 applications.
We had wonderfully, qualified people. We invited the top 14 candidates to test and interview.
When we added up all the scores, JoAnn Krejca was the finalist. She has a bachelor's degree in
Business Communications from the University of Minnesota and for the past eight years has
worked for TCF Banks in customer service. Staff recommends that JoAnn be offered the position
at $8.96 per hour contingent upon successful completion of background checks with the
Department of Motor Vehicles and Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and a pre-employment
physical examination that includes drug and alcohol tests. Her estimated start date would be
October 15, 1996. Ms. Waite Smith introduced Ms. Krejca to Council and they in mm introduced
themselves to her.

Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to authorize the hiring
of Ms. JoAnn Krejca as Receptionist at a starting salary of $8.96 per hour.

Motion carried.
