CASE #1 HIGHWAY #10 REDEVELOPMENT PLAN By: James D. Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator Background: As the EDC has discussed and indicated to the City Council, it will begin the review of the Highway #10 corridor and how the area should develop. In some areas, this will require a redevelopment plan to provide for the best opportunities for the City of Ramsey's economic welfare. With the Highway #10 corridor running the length of the City along its southern border, it is reasonable to break the project into workable pieces. Using this criteria, Chairperson Wagner and I have identified the area near the intersection of 153rd Avenue Northwest and Highway #10 Northwest as a logical starting point. This section was chosen because it is only partially developed and allows for some future planning opportunities. To assist the EDC in these discussions, I have included copies of the City map, half-section maps, zoning map and the proposed land use map for the most recent comprehensive plan. At the meeting I will also have the aerials for this area that will allow for a better picture of the current uses. The Commission members should also drive through this area prior to the meeting to be familiar with the area. At this evening's meeting, the EDC should begin developing a plan for this area and developing a program to make that plan a reality. As the Commission members are aware, we cannot expend funds without approval of the City Council. However, we may want to develop a program with a series of steps to provide for the completion of the plan. Commission Action: Based upon discussion, the EDC may want to gather additional information or develop a plan that incorporates the uses that the City of Elk River intends for this area.
