CASE #3

BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY
By: James D. Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

As the EDC discussed at their last meeting on February 6, 1997, letters soliciting bids from the
local golf courses have been sent and we are awaiting their reply. For your information, I have
attached copies of the letters that were sent. As per our discussion, I have requested that the
courses restrict the price to $50.00 person with the understanding that we will he charging $65.00
per person. The extra funds will be used to supplement the door prizes that will be distributed
during the dinner program.

Also attached is a draft of the flyer that will be included in the Anoka Chamber Newsletter and
mailed to the Ramsey Business Community. The flyer indicates a proposed date for the event,
however, this may change after the bids for the event are received. It is anticipated that the event
will happen on a Wednesday as based upon participation of the last few years, this appears to be
a good day for these types of events. Also indicated in the flyer is the sponsorship of a hole-in-
one contest for which the City has already received a commitment. This should assist us in the
filling of the event at a faster rate.

Commission Action:

Based upon discussion, the EDC should provide input for the event planning.

Reviewed by:
Economic Development Coordinator
City Administrator

EDC:3/06/97
