conditions make the soils susceptible to erosion, which can effect both land and water quality. The
general management suggestion is to keep Wails offthe steep slopes and maintain vegetation in the
preservation.ai-eas.

The resource management zone accounts for a large portion of the park. The
recommendation for this area focuses on establishing native communities and using these
communities as tools in environmental education. The Potential diversity in the park and the
fragility of the communities make the park an excellent educational tool.

The major concern in the development zone was that existing development serve as the
foundation for future development. The population of Anoka county is growing rapidly and this
means the park must have adequatb roads and trails to handle the traffic. However, excessive
development could be curbed ff existing development zones were utilized. The park is also of
significant historical interest. It was once a part of the first settlem~t in Anoka County and served
as a corridor to northwestern Minnesota when it was being settled. It is also recommended that an
interpretive center be bulk to aid in the environmental and historical education.
