CASE #3

1997 REGULAR COMMISSION MEETINGS AT PARK LOCATIONS
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Background:
As you may be aware, for the past few years, the Commission has conducted its warm season
meetings at different parks. This has typically occurred fi.om May through September with April
and October occasionally included. The purpose has been twofold:
1. To provide residents access to the Commission at the neighborhood level; and
2. To continue to familiarize the Commissioners with specific park issues; i.e. maintenance
practices.

The last three years, inclement weather has not been a problem. The plan, however, for rain
events, etc. has been to delay the meeting until 6:30 p.m. (in Council Chambers at City Hall).
The following schedule is proposed for Commission discussion - should the Commission
conclude that outdoor meetings are of benefit. Central Park is shown as a May meeting, which
provides the Ramsey Youth Athletic Association and others maximum contact with the
Commission at the time the Five Year Capital Improvement Program is first being discussed.

May 8, 1997: Central Park
June 12, 1997:
July 10, 1997:
August 14, 1997: Lakeltasca Trail Head (proposed)
September 11, 1997:
October 9, 1997: ?
The October meeting could begin at Alpine Park and conclude at City Hall if the weather was
poor. If development of the park is not initiated this summer, there may be little need for a site
inspection/meeting there.

Commission Action:

Motion to recommend/not recommend an outdoor meeting schedule.

-and-

Request that the schedule be included in the Ramsey Resident and forwarded to cable television.

Reviewed by:
Parks/Utilities Supervisor

PR:04/10/97
