Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #6: Award Bid for McKinley Street East <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski explained that Improvement Project #96-17 involves the construction of a <br />1,000 foot extension of McKinley Street, east of Uranium Street and will provide access to <br />Automated EDM as well as marketable commercial and industrial property extending to the <br />Ramsey/Anoka city limits. In addition to the street improvements, this project will also include a <br />sanitary sewer extension, the creation of a watermain loop to provide a second feed to the service <br />area south of Highway/tl 0, and the construction of a regional storm water detention pond. Bids <br />were opened on Iune 28, 1996, and a copy of the bid tabulation and letter ofrecornmendation were <br />submitted for Council review. Staffrecommends approval of the Iow bid received from Volk Sewer <br />and Water, Inc. in the amount of $196,788.50 which was also lower than the engineer's estimate. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adopt Resolution <br />//96-07-166 awarding Improvement Project 96-17 to Volk Sewer and Water, Inc. in the amount of <br />$196,788.50. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer, Beahen, and <br />Peterson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #7: Report for Road and Bridge Committee <br /> <br />1) Review Proposal for T.lt. 47 Local Initiative Project Application <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski advised this involves consideration of the RFP submitted by SKF, Inc. to <br />prepare a Local Initiative Program application for submittal to Mn/DOT for the improvement of T.H. <br />/t47 between 142nd Avenue and C.S.A.H. #5. This issue has been discussed for a number of <br />meetings and the Road and Bridge Committee recommends acceptance of this proposal with the costs <br />charged to the Engineering Contracted Services account. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin asked if the cost for SKF, Inc. of $5,400 can be recouped through the project. City <br />Engineer Jankowski indicated it cannot. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to authorize <br />acceptance of SRF, Inc.'s proposal in the amount of $5,400 to prepare a 1997 Local Initiative <br />Program application. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
