Perforated <br /> pipe used for distribution pipes shall have one or more rows of holes of no more <br /> than 1/2-inch in diameter spaced no more than 36 Lnches apart. Holes shall be <br /> spaced to prevent beachff capa~ty of not less tB~n 800 pounds per linear foot. <br /> <br /> ~Ylstzibufion ])evice is a device which is used to distribute sewage tank <br /> effluent to the distribufion pipes, including but not limited to distribution boxes, <br /> drop. boxes, and valve boxes. <br /> <br /> Dosing Ch-tuber (or p;:mp pit or wet well) is a tank or separate <br /> compart, ment following the sewage tank which serves as a reservoir for the doing <br /> device. <br /> <br /> Drainfielcl is also called tile disposal field or soil absorption field and <br /> uses distribution pipes placed in favorable soil so that sewage from the septic tank <br /> can percolate through and into the soil. <br /> <br /> Dwelling is any builrt~ng or place used or intended to be used by <br /> h~man occupants as a single-family or two-fsm~]y <br /> <br /> Filter 1VIaterial is cle~n rock, crushed igneous rock, or similar <br /> insoluble, durable, and decay-resist~nt material free from dust, sand, silt, or clay. <br /> The size sha~! range from 1.25-inch minim~m diameter to 2.5 inches effective <br /> diameter. <br /> <br /> Holding T~lr is a watertight tank for storage of sewage until it can be <br /> transported to a point of approved disposal. <br /> <br /> Impermeable, with regards to soils, is a soil horizon or layer ha~ing a <br /> vertical permeability less than 1-inch in 24 hours and shall be considered <br /> impermeable.' <br /> <br /> Individual Sewage Treaimenl~ System is a sewage treatment system, <br /> or part thereof, serving a dwe]Ung or other small L~ving or business ~t, or group <br /> thereof, which utilizes subsurface soil treatment and disposal. <br /> <br /> Law-Ix Area is the area bounded by the dimensions required for the <br /> proper location of the soil treatment area. <br /> <br /> Mottling is a zone of chemical oxidation and reduction actixdty <br /> appearing as splotchy patches of red, brown, orange and gray. <br /> <br /> Mound System is a system where the soil treatment area is built above <br />the gro,~Dd to overcome ]~rn~ts imposed by pro~m~t-y to water table or bedrock, or by <br />rapidly or slowly permeable soils. <br /> <br /> PercSl'a~ion l:Late is the time rate of drop of a water surface in a test <br />hole as specified in §8.30.04 Subd.6 (Final Treatment And Disposal Standard <br />System) of this chapter. <br /> <br /> Plastic Limit is soil moisture content below which the soil may be <br />mamJpulated for purposes of installing a soil treatment system and above which <br />manipulation will Cause compaction amd puddling.
