He felt he could not vote for
someone who has just moved into the community over someone who has done a lot of
volunteer work.

Motion by Councilmember Peterson and secOnded by Mayor Hardin to appoint Steve L.
Ostmm to the Park and Recreation Commission to a term to expire October 31, 1997.

Motion carded. This does not include the reappointment of Ronald Hetland.

Further discussion: Mayor Hardin inquired why the motion was to not include the
appointment of Ron Hetland. Councilmember Peterson replied that Mr. Hetland may have
been on the Commission too long. He felt the way Mr. Hetland has handled people and
meetings is not what he is looking for in a Commissioner. He is very short and terse with
people.

Motion carried.
