For 1996 all the number 2 positions (Chief 2, Captain 12, <br />Lieutenant 2) were subject for review and selection. Also reviewed were the <br />positions of Secretary and Training Officer. ~ have attached the list of the non- <br />command responsibilities for each position. <br /> <br /> Assistant Chief <br />t did the Assistant Chiefs position first because 1 believe this person should be <br />involved in selection of the others. My choice was again Tom Hoxter. i think Tom <br />has done well in this position through 95. (Tom was involved in the selection of <br />the balance of the Officers group) <br /> <br /> Captain #12 <br />I believe Jim Sharp is a good choice. Jim did not have experience in this type of <br />position prior to 1995, but his efforts and willingness to learn through last year <br />showed me he should continue in this position. <br /> <br /> Lieutenant #2 <br />Bob Simpson was also a new face to Officers group in 1995. Although the <br />opportunities for performing in a leadership role have been somewhat limited, the <br />other areas Bob was responsible for were handled in a way that proved he was <br />very serious about Performing well in the position. <br /> <br /> Training Officer <br />This was the only area of concern in determining the Officers selection. I believe <br />I995's training could have gone better than it did. Because of this it was decided <br />to give the position to Chris Weiss. Being involved with the Trainbg Committee <br />since joining the department has shown his interest. Being part of the Preplan <br />Committee has shown me that Chris should be given the opportunity to handle <br />our training. <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />Ii <br /> <br /> Secretary <br />Kelly Hicks expressed interest when Jon McLaughlb decided not to continue in <br />this position. Considering Keily has had experience as a legal secretary I'm <br />certain she will do well in this position. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />As I did last year the people new to the positions (Chris and Kelly) will earn 1/2 the <br />pay for the position until a 6 month performance appraisal is done. if they are <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
