Land Acquisition <br />Facility Construction (office/meeting/lockers/indoor courts) <br />Equipment <br /> SUBTOTAL <br /> <br /> 1,500,000 <br /> 300,000 <br />$1,800,000 <br /> <br />Softball fields (5 fields at $100,000 each) <br /> <br />500,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL USES OF FUNDS <br /> <br />$2,300,000 <br /> <br />* Land lease and/or dedicated by City <br /> <br />SITE LOCATION CRITERIA <br /> <br />As referenced earlier, Minnesota SpOrts Federation is seeking'a cooperative effort <br />with an area community to develop this facility. The ideal site/community would <br />have the. folloWing attributes: .. .... <br /> <br />* Acreage - Minimum of 10 acres (without softball/baseball)or up to 35 - 40 <br /> acres with five softball/baseball fields. ~ . <br />* Reasonable visibility and access to major highways and transportation <br /> system.. <br />* Adjacent to schools and/or educational facilities. <br />* Adjacent to hospitality services including restaurants and. availability of <br /> _+300 hotel rooms within 10 mile radius. ' <br /> Cooperative City/local participation <br /> <br />pRoJECT'S ECONOMIC IMPACT <br /> <br />This facility will be designed to serve as a focal Point of Minnesota 'Sports <br />Federation's tournament activities and training programs. 'The integrated sports <br />complex concept, anticipating both the indoor volleyball/basketball facilitY and the <br />outdoor softball/baseball'complex would be expected to generate approximately 100 <br />tournaments and events per year. · ' <br /> <br />In addition to week night play and the tournaments, it is expected. that the complex <br />would be utilized a minimum of 40 out of the 52 weekends per year which woUld <br />generate a significant amount of out of town travelers to the facility.. On a <br />conservative basis, it would be estimated that the facility woUld be utilized by over <br />75,000 participants and spectators which would generate a minimum of $5,000,000 <br />of local expenditures, in addition to having the facility available for local 'participants <br />and programs. <br /> <br /> <br />
