I
I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I
!
!
I
I
I
I

February 1, 1996

Mr, Steve Jankowsld
City of P. amsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Mr. lankowski,

This letter is in response to a letter we received concerning the resurfa¢ing of our

The letter indicated that we, the residents, are to pay $50.00 per year for three
years in order to pay for this~llltjate, r..e~ I understand that there is to be a meeting
about this on Tuesday, February 13th. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend.
Therefore, it is my irae~ by writing this letter to advise you that we are totally AGAINST
~lis project.

It is ray belief that the taxes I pay are to go towards things like street maintenance.
If the city cannot afford to do a project like this then they obviously should not! It makes
me so angry when I see that my taxes have ~allbJ,e~n the past 5-6 years, in addition to
the hundreds of new houses in Ramsey generating additional taxes/'mcome for the city and
yet the city cries that it does not have any money. I have heard that the city is also
planning to build bike/walk paths. Where is this money coming from? Is this really
necessary when you cannot even maintain the current streets? Why is that you 'engineers"
can come up with all kinds of projects that the city can't pay for and expect the poor,
hardworking citizens to pick up the tab? The street lights are another example. $3.00
may not seem like a lot of money to you but is yet another example of how the city nickel
and dimes u~ to death! It al~pears to me that the city budget is mismanaged. How about
pay cuts for the high salary officials? That ought to generate some much needed income
for the city.

I spoke with several other people in different cities that have had this particular
type of street maintenance done to their street. Not one of them told me that they had to
pay extra for this. I am sick and tired of Ramsey constantly forcing me to pay for things
that I don't need or want. Street lights, recycling street resurfacing, and who know how
much the city will rob me of regarding the Highway 47 ridiculous proposal but thai is
another matter itself.

In closing, it is my firm opinion that street resurfacing or maintenance costs should
be allowed for within the city budget. If the city cannot afford it then doWt do it and stop
forcing the innocent citizens to pay for your overspending.

~incerely, ,

16021 Osmium Street
Ramsey, MN 55303

** TOTRL P~GE.001 **
