I <br />I <br /> <br />'1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The consensus of the EDC was to approve the newsletter and have it mailed shortly before the end of <br />December. <br /> <br />Case//3: <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission Goals for I996. <br /> <br />At the joint meeting of the EDC and City Council, certain issues were brought up for review by the EDC. <br />These issues include the following: <br /> <br />· Continued development of the Ramsey Business Newsletter. <br />· Develop a proposed ratio of commercial/industrial land for the City and recommend changes to the <br /> Comprehensive Plan to facilitate this ratio. <br />· The development of a breakfast/lunch program that will foster ongoing relationships between the <br /> City and businesses. <br />· Review of the Highway #10 corridor to determine what, if any, future actions should be taken to <br /> assure its value to the City as a main commercial area or quasi-downtown. <br />· Developing some conformity in the style of signs in the industrial areas and the continued <br /> development of the entrance signs for the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner suggested the ranking of the goals so that the ones that could be completed in a <br />timely manner or that would take a small amount of time should be completed first. This will allow for <br />the dedication of significant time to the more complex issues such as the commercial/industrial ratios <br />and the Highway #10 redevelopment issue. The Commission members agreed with the idea and <br />suggested the ranking of the less time consuming issues. <br /> <br />The Ramsey Business Newsletter has already been developed and its continued completion will need to <br />be ensured. This will require the EDC to provide information on a regular basis. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nelson asked about the breakfast/lunch program and what it would entail. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner interjected that this was developed from a program that proved successful for the <br />City of Anoka. <br /> <br />Mr. Gromberg continued that the City would invite the new businesses such as Carbon Product <br />Technology, AEC, Wendell's, Command Corporation, etc., the Mayor and Councilmembers, the EDC <br />and City Staff members. The meeting would be somewhat structured with the new businesses talking <br />about why they located in the City and to introduce the new prospects. This would also be an ideal <br />opportunity to continue developing relationships with the new prospects. This would also be a good <br />opportunity to continue developing relationships with the new businesses. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nelson asked how many people would be invited to these gatherings. <br /> <br />Mr. Gromberg thought that they would be limited to 20 to 30 people to allow for greater interaction. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner then suggested that the EDC review the sign goals for the City. He suggested that <br />in addition to the monument type entrance signs, the City purchase smaller signs, such as the one on <br />Armstrong Boulevard, to be located on the smaller roads entering the City. Some examples of the <br />location for these signs would be County Road//22 from Elk River, Nowthen Boulevard from Bums <br />Township, and St. Francis Boulevard from Bums Township/Oak Grove. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission/December 7, 1995 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
