Jankowski, City Engineer Background: It has been Council's direction to encourage the County Board to consider certain highway improvements,within the City. I have contacted Jon Olson, County Highway Engineer, to discuss the preferred ~ethod for encouraging specific improvements which the City may be interested in having the CoSnty undertake. Mr. Olson indicated that several communities have sent letters of support for cert~. 'n projects which he then presents to the County's public works committee. At the present time, the County's public works committee is scheduled to meet on March 25, 1996, to consider next year's Five Year Plan. There would st~ll be time to prepare a letter indicating our desires for projects to be considered. Attached is a ~Cppy of the County's current Five Year Plan. Also below is a list of potential improvements on the County Highway System which should be considered. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) Realignment of C.S.A.H. g5 and T.H. Extension of C.R. gl 16 from C.R. g56 to C'?R. ExtensiOn of C.R~.g116 from C.R. g83 to T.H. gl0 Additiorial traffic lanes C.R. gl 16 from T.H. g47 to C.R. g57 Additioti. al traffic lanes C.R. g57 from C.R. gl16 to T.H. #10 Reconstruct C.R. g83 from C.R. g63 to C.R. #22 Reconstruct C.S.A.H. g27 (179th Lane) from C.R. g7 to T.H. #47 Currently, the County's Five-Year Plan for 1996 through 2000 has identified only project 2 for 1998. Projects ],. 6 and 7 are acknowledged, but are scheduled for some time beyond the year 2000. The remmmng projects are not considered in the five-year plan.
