I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 1996, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Glen Hardin <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to :approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Public Works Maintenance Worker Appointment <br /> <br />Administrative Se~ices Manager Wake Smith recalled that on January 9, 1996, Council authorized <br />the advertisement for a Public Works Maintenance Worker position. The position will work about <br />60 percent of the time in parks with the remaining 40 percent being allocated to utilities and to <br />streets for snowplowing etc. The starting salary range was advertised as $8.99 to $11.00 per <br />hour. The City reaeived 90 applications which were reviewed, rated and ranked, with the top 10 <br />being invited to in~rview on February 23. An interview panel rated each applicant and invited the <br />four top-ranked candidates to a second interview on March 1. Staff is recommending Mr. Duane <br />Dordahl be offered the position at a starting salary of $10.00 per hour, contingent on successful <br />completion of a physical examination and the drug and alcohol tests. The salary recommended is <br />above the minimum based on Mr. Dordahl's 20 years of related experience and his technical <br />education related to irrigation and wells. His estimated start date, if approved, would be April 1, <br />1996. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Mayor Hardin to recommend that Council <br />authorize the hiring, of Duane Dordahl as a Public Works Maintenance Worker at a starting salary <br />of $10.00 per hour. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
