The main
responsibility of the position is to take minutes at commission meetings to free up existing staff
to provide additional support during the day. We posted the position internally, then advertised
in the Anoka County Union & Shopper. Only four people returned completed applications, and
none of the four have any minute taking experience.

I am hesitant to hire someone without at least some minute taking experience, due to the fact
commission minutes provide a legal record for the basis of decisions ultimately made by the City
Council. I am o,Urrently exploring other options such as using a contract minute taking service or
a temporary employment agency. At the time agenda cases are due, I don't have all the
information I need to complete the necessary analysis of options and their costs. I will bring
information to the Personnel Committee meeting for discussion.

Committee Action:

Based on discussion of options presented at Personnel Committee meeting.

Reviewed By:

City Administrator
Administrative Services Manager
PC 04/23/96'
