1996 IMPROVEMENTS TO EMERALD POND PARK
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Background:

As a result of continued residential building in the area around Emerald Pond Park,
additional park dedication dollars have become available. With/n the 1996 Capital
Improvement Program, City Council has authorized $106,000 for Phase II improvements
to the park.

The City has continued to solicit input from area residents about how the park is to be
developed. How the park exists today is a reflection of that input.

Observation:

Most recently, the City sent a letter specifically requesting input from the residents in the
vicinity of the park. Those comments are summarized in the attached memorandum from
Intern Sue Matthews.

The purpose of this case is to examine development possibilities for the park and the need
for sidewalks in the area. Upon prioritized consensus, Staff will prepare a detailed budget
for approval.

The various attachments should be self explanatory.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends a workshop style discussion of development possibilities and priorities
for Emerald Pond Park beginning with the existing features in the park.

Commission Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor

P&R: 3/14/96

Copies also distributed to:

City Administrator
City Engineer
Intern Sue Matthews

/nKaS

I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
