I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I
I

INTRODUCE ORDINANCE TO AMEND LIGHTING STANDARDS IN
TI~IE B-l, B-2, B-3, BW AND INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Background:

Per the Planlaing Commission's direction, City Staff drafted an ordinance to duplicate the
lighting standards in the R-3 Urban Residential District in the B-I, B-2, B-3, BW and
Industrial Districts. The proposed ordinance is enclosed for review.

NotificatiOn:

The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing regarding the proposed amendment
to City Code and the public hearing was advertised in the Anoka Union.

Observations:

It doesn't seem logical that there would be lighting standards called out in the R-3 Urban
Residential District and not the other commercial districts in the City. It is possible that this
language was erroneously omitted during one of the recodifications. Therefore, the
Planning Commission directed Staff to prepare an ordinance for adoption that would put
this language back in all of the commercial districts.

The Planning Commission conducted the public hearing on June 4 and there was one
property owner present from the B-3 Highway Business District that had no objections to
the proposed ordinance.

Recommendation:

The Planning Commission and City Staff recommend adoption of the ordinance.

Council Action:

MOtion to:
Introduce Ordinance ~96-__
BW and Industrial Districts.

to establish lighting standards in the B-I, B-2, B-3,

Review Checklist:
City Council:

City Engineer
6/11/96
