I
I
I

SNOWPLOWING

Purpose:

Snowplowing is necessary to keep traffic moving in a safe condition in the winter months.

Policy:

The City of Ramsey plows all City streets when the snow depth is two inches or more. Normal
plowing starts at 2:00 a.m. or sooner if possible. Wind conditions will affect starting times. Cars
parked on unplowed roads will be tagged and towed. It is against the law to push or plow snow
onto a City street from private property. Underground sprinkler systems installed in ditches and
boulevards will imt be repaired by the City if damaged by the snowplow.

Procedure:

The City of Ramsey is divided into five routes with each route containing at least one major
collector street iwhich is plowed almost immediately. Other streets are plowed in the order
determined by the driver for the fastest and most practical way to open all roads as soon as
possible. Cul-de-sacs and short dead end streets are divided into three routes and are plowed with
different plows which add speed and efficiency to the plowing operation.
