Mr. Eyler offered to find out who will be the project manager on this project and ask them if
there's an issue of frontage roads. He inquired if the City is proposing to get rid of this one
driveway to which Mr. Jankowski replied no.

Mr. Eyler continued that he would approach them on this. We may have to go out and do some
counts and we will have to do a cost estimate and clean the way out up a bit. After we run a draft
by them, we can sit down and talk costs with the County. We need to find out if this is on their
priority list.

Mr. Jankowski commented that they are about four years behind.

Councilmember Beyer recollected that the some people have expressed concern about what would
happen with their property.

Mr. Jankowski responded that this problem received the most sensitive public input. What's
proposed is that we would guarantee these people that the widening of Highway #47 is not
scheduled to happen for between eight and twenty years from now. He proposed assuring these
people that the City would oppose any expansion for a ten-year period of T.H. #47 to four lanes.

Councilmember Beyer expressed uneasiness with that. We have the reputation that these people
cannot trust what we say because of sewer and water projects, etc.

Mr. Eyler added that things could change dramatically. The right-of-way will not be acquired until
#47 is widened and that could be 10 years.

Mr. Jankowski clarified that the City would not support it for 10 years. We need to agree on
something before we submit this to the Council.

Councilmember Beyer suggested this be brought up at the next Road and Bridge Committee
meeting.

Mr. Jankowski stated he would like changes made with access issues. He suggested there should
be no new accesses.

City Administrator Schroeder suggested leaving the issue of accesses for discussion at the next
Road and Bridge Committee meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

The discussion was completed at 6:14 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

'7'
t,.-~ecording Secretary -'--~.~

8tkv¢ f., .
Jankowski
City Engineer

Road and Bridge Committee Meeting (Informal Discussion)/June I1, 1996
Page 2 of 2

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
i
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I
