This level should be surpassed by the end of August as the commercial/industrial report reflects only the building permits that were issued and not the site plans that have been approved. This would increase the number to in excess of 400,000 square feet. With the commercial/'mdustrial properties paying 2-3 times the amount of taxes as compared to residential property this should allow for Ramsey to continue with a fairly stable tax rate. Attached for your review are the building permit reports for the month of July, 1996. As the reports show, the- City issued 33 new home permits which compares to the 19 projected during this period in the residential activity forecast. This brings the total single family home permits to 195 for the year. This rate of construction puts the City on a path to construct a total of 264 new homes in 1996, which will result in a population increase of approximately 906 people, bringing the estimated total population to 18,039.
