Transmitted herewith are ten (10) copies <br />of the bid tabulation for your information and file. The following summarizes the results of the five bids received: <br /> <br />LoTM Alberg Water Services, LLC $192,420.00 <br />#2 E.H. Renner & Sons, Inc. $206,400.00 <br />#3 ' Keys Well Drilling Co. $218,521.00 <br />#4 Layne Minnesota Company $220,963.50 <br />#5 Bergerson-Caswell, Inc. $226,075.00 <br /> <br />The low bidder on th~ project was Alberg Water Services, LLC. with a Base Bid of $192,420.00. This compares favorably <br />with the engineer's estimate of $225,500. These bids have been reviewed and found to be in order. <br /> <br />The Proposal quantity for aggregate base (Item No. 21) should have listed 660 ton in lieu of the shown 60 ton. The correct <br />quantity was included in the Engineer's Estimate, but posted incorrectly for the Proposal. The Iow bidder has a favorable <br />unit price for this iterh and the actual cost for aggregate base will be approximately $6,000 more than listed. <br /> <br />The bid has four part? to allow the City to complete as much of the work as desired. Part 1 includes the drilling of a test <br />hole to verify geology. Part 2 and Part 3 provide for construction of Well No. 3 and the access road to the site for Well 3 <br />construction. Part 4 provides for drilling of a second production well if desired. <br /> <br />The contract documents allow for termination of the project after the test hole or after construction of Well 3. This contract <br />format allows the citY to decide if work will continue at each critical phase of the project. We are therefore recommending <br />that the Ci,? award this £roject to Alberg Water Services, LLC for the amount of $192,420.00. The decision by the City <br />to construct (or not cDnstruct) a second well does not need to be made until Well 3 has been completed and tested.
