The amount set aside for performance meets the Council desire to evaluate Exempt wages more on
a performance based pay system than currently occurs (although you have all seen the most recent
performance reviews). It does not add a merit component for 1996 wages, but to do so seems to
be "after the fact."

I am comfortable that the wage recommendations as discussed above are appropriate. Wages for
these persons generally continue to be below market comparisons but the recommendations close
the gap in wage disparities to some degree.

Committee Action:

Motion to recommend Council adopt the Employer benefit contribution to Exempt personnel for
1996 and 1997.

Motion to recommend Council adopt the recommended wage levels for 1996 and 1997 as follows:

B,
C.
D.

Eo
F.
G.
H.
I.

Police Chief Mike Auspos in the amounts of $62,253 and $64,121
Finance Officer Jessie Hart in the amounts of $51,724 and $53,276
City Engineer Steve Jankowski in the amounts of $53,000 and $54,590
Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite-Smith in the amounts of $45'~397
$46,759
Sergeant Dave Gustafson in the amounts of $50,350 and $51,861
Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen in the amounts of $47,211 and $48,627
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos in the amounts of $37,774 and $38,907
Senior Account Diana Lund in the amounts of $36,357 and $37,448
Recording Secretary Jo Thieling in the amounts of $28,643 and $29,502

and

- and-

Motion to recommend that Council direct that 2% of the Exempt payroll be set aside and designated
for additional pay adjustments in 1997.

Reviewed by: Copies also distributed to:

City Administrator
Administrative Services Manager

Exempt Personnel

PC: 09/09/96

~mt

I
1
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
!
