As the
reports show, the City issued 23 new home permits which compares to the 15 projected during this
period in the resi-dential activity forecast. This brings the total single family home permits to 240
for the year. This rate of construction puts the City on a path to construct a total of 276 new homes
in 1996, which will result in a population increase of approximately 938 people, bringing the
estimated total population to 18,104.

The City has continued to see an increase in the amount of commemiabrmdustrial buildings being
constructed. This growth, with commercial properties paying higher tax rates, will allow for the
City to have a s&ble tax base into the future. This stability is further supported by the higher
building standards that the new development is being required to follow. This allows for
companies, such:as Listul Industries, to move to a new facility that fits their particular needs and
allow for their old site to be upgraded for a future user. This "soft" redevelopment allows for the
industrial areas 1:o be improved without the n-aditional removal and complete rebuilding of the
areas.

If you have any questions concerning these reports, please contact me.
