MEMORANDUM

DATE:
TO:

FROM:

SUBJECT:

November 6, 1996

Mayor and Councilmembers
Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator
,Glyn Huff, Building Official
Steve Lutmer, Building Inspector
Sylvia Frolik, Zoning Administrator
Hart, Finance Officer
~eiSnSc~ Waite-Smith, Administrative Services Manager //~
James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator/E?
Building Activity for October, 1996

Attached for yom'review are the building permit reports for the month of October, 1996. As the
reports show, the City issued 18 new home permits which compares to the 16 projected during this
period in the residential activity forecast. This brings the total single family home permits to 258
for the year. This rate of construction puts the City on a path to construct a total of 278 new homes
in 1996, which!, will result in a population increase of approximately 945 people, bringing the
estimated total pOpulation to 18,110.

As this construction season draws to a close and the plans begin for the 1997 season, the City is
once agmn seeing a u'end that indicates that the constmcnon of commercaal/'mdustnal propemes will
continue into 1997. This continuing trend is suggested by the City having commitments for over
six new projects ,to be constructed in 1997. In addition to these committed projects, the City has
recieved a large ~number of requests for information regarding the programs available in both
business parks. Should any of these requests result in the construction of new facilities, the City
will see the ongoing success of the economic development programs for commercial/'mdustrial
development.

If you have any questions concerning these reports, please contact me.
