Tom called me in response to my letter notifying commercial
properties 0f the compliance deadline for required site improvmeents (i.e., pavement and
curbing). Tom indicated that the improvements currently existing on the site include a
bituminous inon-curbed parking area for employees, a concrete sidewalk to the building
entrance, arid the rest of the site is surfaced with Class 5 and recycled concrete. Tom also
indicated that National Propane is anticipating an expansion in 1997.

I respondedl that under the circumstances of a pending expansion, my recommendation to
City Council will b¢ to waive 'the I/1/97 deadline in Nafional's case because a site plan
review pro~je~ ss will be required for the 1997 expansion. At that time Staff, Planning
Commissiori and City Council will have the opportunity to review existing site amenities
and require Upgrading the site to be in compliance with City Code. To require installation
of pavementiand curbzng prior to then- expansion ~s not logncal and has the potennal to drive
up the cost i of their expansion if the pavement and curbing are damaged during the
construction ,project later in 1997.
