Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson and Beahen.
Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman.

Mayor Hardin suggested stop signs on both ends of 171st.

Voting No:

Councilmember Beahen stated that she shares much of what Councilmember Zimmerman
indicated; there is/still a lot of friction in that neighborhood. She summarized what she felt the area
needed: Place sto~. signs at either end of 171st, place speed bumps (more than one - at least two)
on Zeolite, and to ~crease Police patrol. She expressed concern about the vindictive language that
was used at the n~ghborhood meeting.

Motion by Counc!lmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to direct that stop
signs be placed atieither end of 171st, that speed bumps be put in on Zeolite, and that Police pau'ol
be increased in th6 area.

Further discussion: Councilmember Peterson stated he could support that but that he would like
the motion separa~d out.

Amendment by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to direct that
stop signs be plac~d at either end of 171st.

Amendment carri0d. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen, Peterson, Beyer and
Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

Councilmember Peterson, regarding Zeolite, inquired of the success the City has had with speed
bumps. ~

Mr. Jankowski r~sponded that the City has done a speed study and there is a decrease of six to
eight miles per hoi~ at the 85th percentile. Thus, they have proven effective at reducing speed.

Councilmember Peterson stated he is not quite ready to vote on speed bumps. Maybe increased
patrol would wor~ - or what we have done prior to this could ease the situation.

Councilmember Beahen stated she would at least like to see the speed monitored for a period of
time.

Mr. Jankowski stated that the sign we had previously talked about is booked up for a few months
but he has scheduled renting the sign from' the County for October.

Case #2: Proposed Ordinance to Amend the R-1 and R-2 Residential Districts
to rEstablish Churches as Permitted Uses

Zoning Adminis~ator Frolik stated that Council introduced an ordinance to allow churches as
permitted uses in fthe R-1 and R-2 Residential Districts.
