Mr. Dolphin explained that they recently changed that exterior finish ~om wood, as the wood appearance did not last. Commissioner Thorud explained that he preferred the metal siding. Motion by Comrrdssioner LaDue and seconded by Commissioner Holland to recommend that City Council grant site plan approval to the site plan proposal for the Burger King facility contingent upon compliance with '~he City Staff review letter dated August 27, 1996, and the condition that the applicant can meet the 80 foot setback from the center of the right-of-way for Ramsey Boulevard. Voting No: None. Absent: None. Case #7: Request for a Conditional Use Permit for an Off-Site Advertising Sign; Case of ]t01m's Super Bowl, Inc. Tim Holm of Holm's Super Bowl, Inc. explained that he has renovated the building since taking ownership. He explained that Holm's Super Bowl, Inc. is in a nice area of Ramsey, and he is working to upgrade the bfisiness image. Mr. Holm explained that Holm's Super Bowl, Inc. needed high exposure to attract new customers. Commissioner JenSen pointed out the location of current signs, including the one located on Riverdale Drive. Zoning Administrator Frolik explained that the bowling alley is located on Lot 1. She stated that City Staff appreciated ~he efforts that the applicant has put into the property. Ms. Frolik explained that the Dubats property has an 84 foot sign and a 24 foot sign, and City Code allows one freestanding sign not to exceed 100 square feet on each commercial parcel. Ms. Frolik pointed out that the proposed sign would be a third sign on this parcel, totaling 180 square feet. Ms. Frolik cautioned the Planning CommisSion that this would be a precedent setting decision. Chairperson Bawden asked what the other signs were advertising. Ms. Frolik stated that the other two signs were advertisements for the Dubats Building and the occupants of the building. Commissioner Ho~and questioned ifHolm's Super Bowl, Inc. could be incorporated into the existing Dubat's signs. Ms. Frolik explained that Mr. Dubat's signs were located on Riverdale Drive.
