BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY REVIEW <br />'By: James D. Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />CASE #1 <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission conducted the 8th annual Business Appreciation Day <br />on August 21, :1996, with 36 golf teams and over 150 people attending. This was the largest <br />turn-out ever for the event and should provide a good base for next years event. So far, <br />comments received have been favorable. As those of you who attended know, the time overrun <br />for the golfing portion was the only draw back. <br /> <br />In 1997, this will be less of an issue as the event is tentatively scheduled for Rum River Hills, <br />which would have the meal on-site. The scheduling issue is also somewhat controlled by the <br />golf course and their scheduling procedures. In addition to the scheduling issues, the flyer for the <br />event should be !changed to better reflect the availability of the hole sponsorship. This appears to <br />be a problem as many of the participants did not read all of the information; therefore, hole <br />sponsorship was down from previous years. The EDC should review the opportunity to increase <br />the cost of hole isponsorship as the price currently equals the costs associated with the sign and <br />trophy purchase,r <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Based upon discussion, the Economic Development Commission should make planning <br />suggestions for the 1997 Business Appreciation Day Event. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br />Economic Development Coordinator <br />City Administrator <br /> <br />EDC:09/04/96 <br /> <br /> <br />
